| Michael Mendelson: A Fiddler’s Notebook |
| A Fiddler's Notebook is a collection of tunes
I have written over the past ten years or so. I have always been fascinated
by the variety of music this world offers, from jazz and Western classical
music, to the wonderful folk music of cultures everywhere. |
| The compositions presented here reflect the
influence of the wide variety of music I play on a regular basis: contradance,
old-timey, Scottish, swing, blues, classical, plus a few others I can't
remember! |
| I hope you enjoy the music and the musicians
presented here. |
| Lead sheets for each of the tunes on this
recording are available. For more information, please contact me at the

| ACKNOWLEDGEMENT & THANKS! |
| You’ve heard it before: Without the help of
this person or that person this recording, etc, etc... Well, in the case
of this recording it really is true! Although I wrote the basic melodies
for these tunes, the arrangements were the result of the creative input
of each of the individual musicians. Everyone who came into the studio added
his or her own unique touch to the recording. As often as not a player would
come up with a musical idea that I had not even considered, resulting in
a wonderful new way of looking at the tune. |
| Special thanks have to go to David West
for his patience and encouragement as well as his technical expertise. This
project truly would not have gone to completion without his help. |
| Thanks to Lawrence Wallin for the cover
art. |
| Thanks also to the following for their advice,
patience and support: Ann Maria Marx, Patty West, Anita Anderson, Mike
Mullins, Tim Mullins, Tony Marcus, Doug Toews, and Sam
the Cat. |
| And finally, thanks for technical help |
